Nanning is the capital of Guangxi autonomous region in southern China. It is known as the "Green city" because of its abundance of lush tropical foliage. Nanning is located in the southern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, 160 km from the border with Vietnam. It is the intersection for three tributaries of the Yong River, itself a tributary of the Xi River, the Yu River, You River, and Zuo River.
