The most well-known and popular resort destination in the western part of the Bükk Hills is Szilvásvárad and its area. An earthenware factory used to be operated in this village as well. The whitewashed circular building of the Reformed Church rising above village houses was built by József Hild, an outstanding Classicist architect in Hungary between 1837 and 1841. The 558 hectar protected castle park boasts with special trees and plants. The Pallavicini Palace in the park was designed by Miklós Ybl in 1860.

Szalajka Spring has its source at the foot of Istállóskõ (959 m), to the east of the village; the stream goes west, reaching Szilvásvárad through the most picturesque valley in the country. In Szalajka Valley of outstanding beauty there is a 24-hectar beech-wood, under protection as well. Excursions can be made on foot and by a narrow-gauge forest railway from the entrance to the Szalajka Valley: you can see beautiful lakes, the trout breeding pond, the Forest Museum below Csortos-kõ, as well as the travertine waterfalls of the Szalajka Stream. You can climb up to Istállóskõ Cave on the red tour route to see a prehistoric fireplace and Istállóskõ itself. The yellow tour route leads from the Szalajka Valley through Tó tfalu Valley to Gerennavár (757 m), wherefrom you can get back to the village along the yellow + tour route past Szánafõ along Bérci walk.
