Mito is the capital of Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan and has a central location, moderately offset towards the coast in that prefecture. It is also the location of Kairakuen, a nationally famous park, celebrated for its breathtaking ume blossoms that bloom in the springtime. Senba lake is located in Mito. Mito's culinary speciality is its natto. Mito natto is well-known across Japan.
Mito is the site of the Japanese garden Kairaku-en, which is counted as one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. In summer, Mito city also holds the Mito Koumon Festival.
