Welcome to Callander

Callander is a burgh in the region of Stirling, Scotland, on the River Teith. It lies on the eastern fringe of the Trossachs. The town now attracts a number of tourists and has a visitor centre which also contains a display related to Rob Roy MacGregor, who lived in the nearby village of Balquhidder.
The town is located in the former County of Perthshire, and is a popular tourist stop to and from the Highlands. The town now serves as the eastern gateway to the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, the first National Park in Scotland.
Dominating the town is the Callander Crags, rising several hundred feet to the North. This is a very visible part of the Highland Boundary Fault.
The last person to be tried and imprisoned for the crime of Witchcraft in the UK was Helen Duncan from Callander. This was during World War Two.
In G.I. Joe, a military-themed line of toys from Hasbro one of the key characters Destro, is said to come from Callander, and his family have lived there since at least the 15th Century.
