Lycksele Municipality is a Municipality in Västerbotten County, in northern Sweden. Its seat is in the city Lycksele, with 6,000 inhabitants.The town Lycksele is situated along the Ume Rive, which drains the lake Storuman in north-west, and continues south-east through the province, emptying near the city Umeå in the Gulf of Bothnia on the east coast.
Lycksele is the oldest permanent Sami settlement in Swedish Lappland. The first Swedish Sami school, Skytteanska skolan, was built here in 1634.
