The Kingdom of Thailand is a country in Southeast Asia. To its east lie Laos and Cambodia; to its south, the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia; and to its west, the Andaman Sea and Myanmar. Its capital and largest city is Bangkok. The Thai climate is tropical and characterized by monsoons. There is a rainy, warm, and cloudy southwest monsoon from mid-May to September,
as well as a dry, cool northeast monsoon from November to mid-March. The southern isthmus is always hot and humid. Thailand is the most popular tourist destination in South-East Asia, and for a reason. You can find almost anything here: thick jungle as green as can be, crystal blue beaches that feel more like a warm bath than a swim in the ocean and food that can curl your nose hairs while tap dancing across your taste buds. Exotic, yet safe; cheap, yet equipped with every modern amenity you need, there is something for every interest and every price bracket, from beach front backpacker bungalows to some of the best luxury hotels in the world. Thailand has many national parks and many islands, some of which are resorts and filled with tourists. There are also several archaeological sites of which Ayutthaya (also a World Heritage Site) is the most famous.Thailand, especially the Thai islands, are extremely popular with the young backpacker set. Thailand has a lot to offer those into sports and active vacations. There are numerous golf courses. You can also scuba dive, rock climb and take bicycle tours. Trekking is popular, especially in the northern part of the country (watch out for low flying elephants & tigers!!).
